Exploring an adaptive version of the 3D model of debriefing using a virtual patient simulation
In this study, we explored the debriefing experience of undergraduate students using the 3D Model of Debriefing after completing a virtual simulation module on conflict management. Results suggest that students can experience the benefits of a transformative learning experience when they are debriefed using the 3D Model with virtual patients.

Improving newly licensed nurses’ knowledge and skills related to bullying and incivility: A mixed-methods study
In hectic and stressful environments, such as hospitals and academic institutions, the incidence of psychological violence takes its toll on nursing staff. When tempers rise, or situations become volatile and unbearable, nurses can use strategies such as training in how to hold critical conversations, to prevent disruptive and harmful behaviors. This program provides nurses with the knowledge and tools to react to a crucial conversation when under stress appropriately. Educational activities not only raise awareness of these issues, but can provide skills, training, and knowledge of how to reduce the frequency and impact of incivility.

Examination of global health disparities through a collaborative online international learning (COIL) partnership
A call to action has been made for colleges of nursing to prepare nurses to practice with cultural competence. Integration of a Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL) project into the nursing curriculum is an innovative teaching methodology for increasing cultural competence and preparation as leaders in improving global health.

Immersive video technology: Highly engaging, cost-efficient, standardized clinical simulations for remote learning
Immersive videos could help make standardized Clinical Simulation(SIM) experiences accessible to 10, 100, or even 1000s of remote students at once. Immersive video viewers feel like they are standing inside the video: able to look up, down, and around as SIMs unfold before them. Join us, to find out more!

Simulation and learning from a distance
Simulation can be experienced as real even from a distance. This presentation describes a multi-site, multi-method model for improving learning during simulation for observers as well as participants.

Genomic educational enhancement through simulation: A cystic fibrosis scenario
How a genetic component in a Cystic Fibrosis simulation scenario enhanced pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing students’ self-perceived ability to integrate genomics into their knowledge base of nursing and nursing care.

Comparing the simulation and traditional clinical environments: The challenges of observational educational research
Traditional clinical is considered the gold standard of experiential learning. This rating assumes that the clinical experience allows students to reinforce the knowledge and skills gained in the classroom and foundational lab setting. In reality, however, each student’s experience in clinical is unique, based on the variability of the clinical setting and patient care needs. Simulation is a teaching strategy frequently utilized in nursing education. It has been shown to be an effective substitution for traditional clinical and provides a partial remedy for the randomness of the actual patient care experience. Both environments provide valuable learning experiences, but little is known about how they actually compare. A multi-site observational study was conducted to compare simulation and traditional clinical focusing on the activities occurring in each setting. This presentation will discuss the results of this study as well as discuss the challenges of conducting a multi-year, multi-site observational field research study.

Situational awareness development in undergraduate nursing students using critical care simulations
Situational awareness is a precursor to clinical decision making and is a quality nursing students may lack. This educational activity aims to inform the attendee of how using high fidelity simulations may help to develop situational awareness qualities in the senior-level nursing student.

Family presence during resuscitation (FPDR): Evaluation of the ER-DRIP education package
In order to implement Family presence during resuscitation into practice, a learning package was developed (ER-DRIP) teaching practitioners how to talk to family members. This paper will showcase the results of students following attendance to the workshop and implications for future practice.
