Browsing Tips

  • The browse feature allows you to go through a list of items with a limited focus, in a specific order.
  • Browse options are based on information fields within item records.
  • Browsable fields are listed in the left-hand navigation bar. This bar remains visible except during the submission process.
  • Patrons may browse the entire repository or an individual community or collection.

The order of the browse results may be changed by clicking on the sort icon on the right side of the page. An example of a "browse by author" selection is shown below.

This link will display the repository's complete hierarchy of communities and their underlying collections.

Browsing within Communities and Collections

Each community and collection contains browse options in addition to those listed in the main menu. Browsing a community will also browse any sub-communities or collections within it.

Date of Publication Versus Repository Posting Date

The date of publication is the date the work was first made publicly available; for example, the date an article was published in a journal.

The repository posting date is the date the work was archived in the repository.

If the item has not been published/disseminated before its appearance in the repository, the dates will be the same and the repository posting date will take priority.
