Abstract

This study aims to understand the experience of moral distress related to child custody among NICU nurses who care for families with a substance-exposed pregnancy. Preliminary findings reveal a continuum of morally distressing experiences centering on fear for infant safety and perceived nurse responsibility. Potential solutions are interdisciplinary.
