Abstract

Nurse apprentice/externship programs enhance the nursing workforce by preparing new nurses for smooth transitions to practice. This study assessed new nurses’ experiences over time and compared those who participated as apprentices against those who did not. Research outcomes demonstrated the value of apprenticeships in preparing nurses for COVID-19 workplace environments.
