Creating a healthy work environment in the post-pandemic era

Abstract

The Challenge: How can you utilize your knowledge, background, and expertise to develop an innovative approach to addressing incivility and or a toxic work environment in your role as a nurse or midwife in the the post-pandemic health care environment. What does a healthy work environment look like post-pandemic?

The Purpose: To provide nurses and midwives the opportunity to develop evidence-informed strategies to reduce or eliminate uncivil behaviors within the healthcare work environment. Identify at least one potential intervention to decrease uncivil behaviors in the workplace. Issues addressed by participants of the challenge could address (but are not limited to):

  • The development of strategies for nurses, midwives, and other health workers to prevent workplace incivility, lateral violence and or bullying in the professional community.
  • The perspectives of nurses, midwives, and other health workers on workplace bullying.
  • Reframing or reconstructing a system or process to provide a supportive atmosphere for nurses, midwives, and other health workers in the workplace.
  • The communication skills used by nurses, midwives, and other health workers to prevent incivility and uncivil behaviors.
