Abstract

Mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care unit are unable to communicate. The purpose of this project is to enhance communication between newly nonverbal patients who are mechanically ventilated and caregivers in the Medical-Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (MRICU) at a large urban academic hospital.
