Abstract
The structural inequities have affected critical care nurses, health care worker’s health and well-being (Durrah et al, 2022; Wells, S., 2024). Prioritizing nurse wellbeing has been formed to improve psychologically safe work environments associated with positively decreasing barriers in patient outcomes within the workforce (Wells, S., 2024). Authentic leaders developed patient advocacy, trusting relationships with their employees to increase the access to proper nursing services to enhance the ability to thrive at work ( Alhalal et al, 2024a; Durrah et al, 2022). Authentic leadership tool was introduced to design interventions and policies specifically for nurse manager’s authentic leadership style to enhance nursing wellbeing and quality of patient care (Alhalal et al, 2024a; Durrah et al, 2022).
Communication and collaboration are the two pillars that support in providing compassionate care (Curcio et al, 2024). The nursing professional practice model enlightens the pathway for “human caring”, and describes the importance of relationships, and mindful connection through human interaction to restore the harmony and promote culture of healing environment (Curcio et al, 2024). Nursing professional model consist of evidence-based care that prompt nurses to apply clinical judgment, and clinical reasoning among the multidisciplinary team to make a change in the nursing practice (Stormacq et al., 2020).
High reliability organizations have ensured the equity lens has been applied to the individual needs of nurses and potential improvement interventions towards decreasing workplace stressors (Wells, S., 2024). Organizations and leaders have supported the pathway by keeping a diverse workforce, combating bias and discrimination in the workplace, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility initiatives to support healthcare workers well-being and clinical excellence (Durrah et al, 2022; Stormacq et al., 2020).
Education serves as a catalyst for nursing empowerment, providing critical care nurses with knowledge, skills, and attitude for opportunities to achieve clinical reasoning and improve the critical thinking skills in an effective workplace ( Alhalal et al, 2024a; Assi & Gurney, 2023a). Education equips individuals with health literacy, and problem-solving skills, essential for success in the modern workplace to thrive (Stormacq et al, 2020).
