It enhances patient care, operational efficiency, and financial viability while supporting career advancement & job satisfaction for enrolled nurses (ENs).

Purpose: Demonstrates alignment of strategic objectives and individual development via innovative teaching in EN-RENC.

Program Overview: EN-RENC equips ENs with advanced skills like intramuscular injections, wound dressing, venepuncture, & diabetic foot care, improving patient care & satisfaction1,2. Upskilling ENs reduces dependency on agency staff & overtime, lowering labor costs & optimizing workflow.

Efficiency and Cost Savings: Enhanced EN skills increase productivity & efficiency, leading to cost savings. The program also improves eligibility for grants & supports sustainability goals through better resource utilization3.

Career Progression: Offers clear pathways for career advancement, fostering autonomy, job satisfaction, & retention.

Results: 54 ENs completed the program & they achieved a 100% passing rate on post-training quizzes, with competency assessments ensuring nursing skill proficiency. They are now equipped with the skills & competencies needed to meet the updated Singpore Nursing Board core competency standards5,6. Evaluation feedback showed 100% course effectiveness, course recommendations as well as meeting the learning objectives.

Key Innovations in EN-RENC:

Comprehensive Learning Objectives: Practical skills like IM injections, wound dressing, venepuncture, cannulation, diabetic foot screening, & health education.

Diverse Instructional Strategies: Lecture-based instruction, small group discussions, hands-on practice, simulation, collaborative learning, & role-playing.

Effective Assessment Methods: Formative & summative assessments, online quizzes, & practical assessment checklists for consistent competency evaluation.

Conclusion: By aligning training interventions like EN-RENC with both strategic objectives & individual development needs, RH ensures a holistic approach to workforce development. This alignment supports the hospital's goals of delivering exceptional patient care, optimizing resources, & ensuring financial viability, while fostering a motivated, skilled, & satisfied workforce. This dual focus creates a sustainable, efficient, & patient-centered healthcare environment, positioning RH as a leader in quality healthcare provision4.
