Abstract
Supporting both Sigma and ANAC’s mission that empowers knowledge generation, prioritizes nurse leadership, and advocates for the improvement of health globally as well as the EHE 2030 goals, this study addresses the disparate rates of HIV/STIs among sexual and gender minorities (SGMs). It will increase the field’s understanding of factors influencing awareness, uptake, and persistence of novel biomedical HIV/STI prevention strategies, from both a primary care clinician and SGM client perspective. Conducted by an experienced advanced-practice clinician PhD student and interdisciplinary skilled HIV mentors with broad methodological and clinical expertise, this grant proposal sets the stage for robust skill development needed for a successful future intervention and translational nursing science career trajectory. The outlined protocol describes two important populations (i.e., clients) who have additional health concerns and (i.e., clinicians) who have a growing workload. We are seeking additional funding to appropriately compensate these stakeholders for their time and expertise.
