Rapid Presentation Round

Abstract

To achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030, our School of Nursing is addressing how we create and sustain a healthy environment as we lead our profession and improve lives for the public good. Our School of Nursing’s strategic plan has 3 mission critical priorities: responsible growth, inclusive excellence, and operational excellence. The Office of Strategy and Global Affairs aligned our global priorities with the School of Nursing's strategic plan: global education, Fulbright Specialist/Scholar and Visiting Professorships, and sustainability. In this presentation, we provide 3 examples of how our School of Nursing is creating and sustaining a healthy work environment through our strategic plan. These examples include 1) faculty-led study abroad opportunities for nursing students, 2) detailed operational processes of successes of School of Nursing faculty who received Fulbright Specialist and Scholar awards, and 3) promotion of sustainable activities that align with the Sustainable Development Goals. The nursing implications of the school of nursing strategic plan and global strategic plan are clear. This plan will guide us as we shape the future of nursing in and beyond North Carolina and advance health for all. Our values of courage, commitment, compassion, community, collaboration, and curiosity will lead us to creating and sustaining a healthy work environment in the School of Nursing.
