Abstract

Social media can elevate (or jeopardize) your nursing career. This session explores professional digital presence, ethical and HIPAA safe social media practices, and how nurses can show up online with purpose for learning, advocacy, and impact—all while protecting their license, reputation, and the public trust of the nursing profession.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe the importance of a nurse’s digital presence and its impact on professional identity, reputation, and career development.
  2. Identify key social media platforms and strategies for networking, knowledge-sharing, and building professional community.
  3. Explain how nurses can use social media to amplify their professional voice for advocacy, education, and public health impact.
  4. Recognize how to apply ethical and professional standards to digital practice.
  5. Identify practical social media strategies for creating content, engaging audiences, and measuring digital impact in a professional context.
